How Gold Prices Are Calculated
All prices are derived from the international XAU/USD spot rate — the global benchmark for gold valued in US Dollars per troy ounce. We apply live foreign exchange rates to convert into your local currency, then calculate per-gram, per-tola, per-masha, and per-ratti values using precise weight ratios. One troy ounce equals 11.664 tolas and 31.1035 grams, ensuring every figure on Goldify Pro is mathematically consistent with international standards.

Understanding Gold Rates, Weights & Purity — A Complete Reference
How Gold Prices Are Calculated
Goldify Pro tracks the international gold spot price (XAU/USD) in real time and converts it into your local currency using live exchange rates. Prices are displayed for 100+ countries — per troy ounce, per gram, per tola, and per gram — and refresh every minute. The XAU/USD spot price is the globally recognised benchmark set by the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) and reflects the wholesale interbank price for one troy ounce of fine gold.
The spot price is the starting point — your local jeweller's quote will typically be higher due to dealer margins, regional taxes, currency exchange spreads, and fabrication charges on jewellery. In Pakistan, for example, the sarafa (bullion bazaar) rate is announced daily by the Sarafa Association and reflects local supply and demand on top of the international benchmark. This is why Goldify Pro lets you set your own custom rate per tola: so your calculations always match your actual market reality, not just the theoretical international price.
Gold prices are affected by many global factors: US Federal Reserve interest rate decisions, geopolitical events, inflation data, central bank gold purchases, currency strength (especially the USD), and investor sentiment. When inflation is high or economic uncertainty increases, gold prices typically rise — making historical data from the 55-year archive invaluable for spotting trends.

Gold Weight & Purity — Quick Reference
The traditional South Asian gold measurement system — tola, masha, and ratti — has been used by jewellers and traders on the subcontinent for centuries. These units remain the standard in Pakistan's sarafa markets today, alongside the internationally standard gram and troy ounce. Understanding the relationship between all these units is essential for accurate gold trading. Use the tola to gram converter or the full converters suite to switch between any units instantly.
Gold purity is expressed in karats (K), where 24K represents pure gold (99.9% or higher). The most common trading purities are 24K (investment gold, coins, bars), 22K (high-quality jewellery, common in Pakistan and Gulf markets), 21K (popular in Gulf and East African markets), and 18K (mixed with alloys for durability in Western jewellery markets). The karat purity calculator tells you exactly how many parts out of 24 are pure gold — so 22K gold contains 22 parts gold and 2 parts alloy.

What Is Goldify Pro?
Goldify Pro is a free online platform built specifically for gold traders, jewellers, sarafa shop owners, and gold buyers across South Asia and the Gulf. It provides live gold prices for 100+ countries updated every minute, 8 professional gold calculators (including grams to tola converter, karat purity checker, polish calculator, impurity calculator, average rate finder and gold weight calculator), a complete shop record system for daily buy and sell transactions with inventory tracking, a jewellery sale calculator with printable receipts in multiple template designs, quick rate tables showing every weight unit and karat in one view, and a gold reference guide covering units, karats, glossary and standard formulas. All calculators and rate tools are completely free and work without creating an account.
Goldify Pro was created because gold traders in Pakistan and South Asia needed a single, reliable tool that understood their specific measurement units — tola, masha, and ratti — alongside standard grams, and that worked in their local currency. Before Goldify Pro, jewellers had to switch between multiple tools, apply conversion formulas manually, and use paper ledgers for shop records. Goldify Pro brings everything into one place, available on any device, in 10 languages including Urdu, Arabic, and Hindi, with a full 55-year gold price history and month-by-month archive from 1970 to today.

Karat Guide
Gold Karat & Purity Table
Gold purity is measured in karats (K). Pure gold is 24K. Every karat represents 1/24th part of pure gold. Use this table to compare purity, fineness, and common uses from 10K to 24K.
| Karat | Purity | Purity Bar | Fineness |
|---|---|---|---|
10K | 41.67% | 417 | |
12K | 50.00% | 500 | |
14KPopular | 58.33% | 583 | |
16K | 66.67% | 667 | |
18KPopular | 75.00% | 750 | |
20K | 83.33% | 833 | |
21KPopular | 87.50% | 875 | |
22KPopular | 91.67% | 917 | |
23K | 95.83% | 958 | |
24KPopular | 99.99% | 999 |
Fineness (Parts per 1000)
Fineness = (Karat ÷ 24) × 1000e.g. 22 Karat → (22 ÷ 24) × 1000 = 916.7
Purity Percentage
Purity % = (Karat ÷ 24) × 100e.g. 18 Karat → (18 ÷ 24) × 100 = 75.0%
Pure Gold Weight
Pure wt = Total weight × (Karat ÷ 24)e.g. 10g of 18 Karat → 10 × 0.75 = 7.5g pure
Gold Value
Value = Pure weight × Price per grame.g. 7.5g × rate/g = total gold value
Fineness is stamped on hallmarked gold (e.g. 750 = 18K, 916 = 22K, 999 = 24K). Always verify with a certified assayer.

Disclaimer
All rates are for reference only and may differ from your local market.
Why Live Rates May Differ from Your Local Market Rate
Based on the international XAU/USD spot price. Here's why your local price may vary.
Market Spread & Markup
Local jewelers, banks, and dealers apply a spread or markup over the international spot price to cover their operating costs, profit margins, and risk.
Regional Taxes & Import Duties
Gold imported into your country may be subject to customs duties, GST/VAT, or excise taxes that raise the local retail price above the global spot price.
Data Source Latency
Our rates are fetched from gold-api.com and exchangerate-api.com with a 1-minute refresh cycle. Global markets update continuously, so brief differences are normal.
Exchange Rate Fluctuation
Rates are converted from USD (XAU/USD spot price) using live exchange rates. Minor rounding and intraday currency fluctuations can cause small differences from your local rate.
Spot Price vs. Retail Price
Displayed rates reflect the international spot price of 24K pure gold. Jewellery prices also include making charges, stone costs, and purity adjustments (e.g. 22K, 18K).
Local Supply & Demand
During high-demand periods (festivals, weddings) or supply shortages, local dealers may quote prices above or below the global spot rate.
Note: Always confirm rates with your local jeweler, bank, or bullion dealer before making a purchase or sale.
